Cabezon brings "Trini rock" to Songshine
Sunday's edition of the Songshine open-mic series will feature the band Cabezon. Previously appearing during the open segment of the show, the Sangre Grande-based band received a warm response from the audience. This time around, they will play a full set of their music, which incorporates a mixture of grunge, calypso and funk genres. The band says their influences are diverse and some have said their music is "true Trinidadian rock." Bandmembers—Darius Balgobin, vocals; Josh Coomansingh, guitar; Calvin Ramnath, bass and Brent Gajadhar, drums —have been performing together for almost two and a half years. Also featured at Sunday's show will be rapso-soca artist Andy Venture, who will present some of his new recordings. As usual, all musicians, singers and poets are welcome to perform at Songshine. The open mic segment closes at 8pm, so those wishing to perform should arrive early to register.
The show takes place at Trevor's Edge, #1 St John Rd, St Augustine, opposite Scotia bank.
Admission costs $20 and doors open at 6.30pm. For further information, call 760-4655.
