Greetings arts lovers! Songshine fell on Carnival Sunday, but the failthful came through and made it a memorable show. "Lots of people support local music at Carnival time," said Songshine producer Gillian Moor. "But Songshine people show their support -- for artists in all genres -- all year round." Jamaican dub poet "the Inspirator International" Charlie Bobus delivered his uplifting message, and a mix of performers old and new came up to the Songshine mic. Songshine favourites like poets Muhammad, Tracie Rogers, Akilah Riley and Ivory were there. Members of rock band Solaris Nyerere Haynes and Kwesi Stewart gave the audience a taste of acoustic versions of their songs. "Conscious" reggae singers Marvin and Dennison nearly stole the show with their catchy beats. Newcomer Black Yogi and returning singer Mauricia Fletcher also received warm encouragement from the intimate audience. The next edition will take place there on March 2, 2008.
